Building Dedication Ceremony
on Sunday, December 11, 2005
It all started with a group of fishermen in someone's kitchen in the
mid-eighties and here we are today with one of the finest fishing harbours
on the B.C. coast. A common thread from that point until now is the
dedication and commitment by our fishing fleet to fiercely protect the
community that is our harbour.
One
member of our fishing fleet stands out above the rest as an example, and
we honour and pay tribute to Ron Parke, who
worked tirelessly to ensure a fisherman's right to do what he/she loved,
and he fought to maintain the infrastructure that is needed to keep a safe
harbour.
We would like to thank the entire wharf community and everyone who
sat on a committee, fished alongside, joined him at the galley table or
was touched in some way by Ron's quiet strength, dignity, grace & humour.
On Sunday, December 11, 2005, the Board and staff of CVHA hosted a ceremony to dedicate the new building in Ron's memory.
